Low-Cost Modular Access Router. A 1U LAN/WAN router based on a Freescale MPC8347A processor and a Broadcom BCM56024 Multilayer Switch. Uses DDR2 SDRAM and provides 3 modular slots, four Fast Ethernet ports, two 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and two SFP ports. Includes TDM and serial buses for voice and WAN data traffic, an optional packetized voice module and an optional security co-processor module.

Packetized Voice Module. A SODIMM-size module for use in the above router that can support up to 128 packetized voice channels using the Mindspeed M825xx series of Integrated VoIP processors. Also includes a TDM bus clock generator with synchronization logic.

10-Port Gigabit Ethernet Interface Module. An interface module for a high-end access router that provides eight 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and two multiplexed SFP or 10/100/1000BASE-T ports. Includes multilayer switching, two 1 Gbps links to the host processor and two 15 Gbps links to a backplane switching fabric.

Co-Processor Blade. Worked with an OEM to develop a processing module for the above router that provides an Intel Pentium M processor, two 1 GB DIMMs and an 80+ GB SATA hard drive to form a complete Windows Server or Linux application platform. Also includes two front-panel 10/100/1000BASE-T ports and two 1 Gbps Ethernet links to the host processor.

WAN Interface Modules. Developed a variety of interface modules for several router families, including multi-port T1/E1, multi-port V.35/RS-422/RS-232 Serial, ISDN BRI S/T and U, HSSI, DS3 and V.92 Modem modules.

Low-End WAN Access Routers. Developed a one WAN port access router that continues to sell well that is based on an NEC MIPS processor and an FPGA that implements all WAN and system functions, including a 64-channel HDLC Controller. Two models supported a T1/E1 port and a serial port, respectively. Also developed optional daughterboards that added an ISDN BRI S/T or U port for backup.

Multi-Port T1/E1-to-Ethernet Converter. Developed an FPGA module for a point-to-point microwave radio link that transparently multiplexed up to 8 T1/E1 ports into an Ethernet data stream across the radio link. Included TDM clock recovery circuitry to track the T1/E1 receive clocks and generate output T1/E1 timing within frequency and jitter tolerances.

SONET Radio Link Multiplexor. A frontend multiplexor for a point-to-point SONET radio link. Plug-in payload modules support either (1) one clear channel OC-3/STM-1 (optical) or STS-3 (electrical) interface or (2) one Fast Ethernet plus one DS3/E3 interface. The main unit multiplexes an analog Orderwire voice interface, a 64 Kbps User Channel interface, and a T1/E1 wayside channel interface into the SONET overhead.
